About Me

I have owned a 3800 for about 6 years now. I rebuilt my bike from a basket case and learnt that basket cases are not the best start to owning a bike.  My finest Solex moment was definitely Riding in the SCS Calais run in 2014. Am currently working very slowly on two projects.  A velovap and a 3800 for my daughter who wants to ride the next SCS Calais event.

Hello Steve. I see you live in Northampton not far from me in Cambridge. I have a Black n' Roll 4800 which I ran around for a while a few years ago.
I'm now looking for some help to get it going again. Do you know anywhere that I could go to get it going as I'm no mechanic?
Thanks, David Shortt

Hi I bought my solex 2200 as a basket case about 12 months ago for 50 euros ! With the help of people in the club l had a steep learning curve and rebuilt it ,engine and frame . I love it to bits and cant wait to find another one to restore.Any bike that is complete in bits or not at the right price will do so I can tax my brain again. Thanks to every one for all the advice that made it possible.

Hi Steve. Some time back you were kind enough to offer me the loan of some tools. My VeloSolex starts immediately (using the electric drill method) but cuts out immediately and restarts easily each time only to cut out again immediately. I've changed the fuel and pump diaphragm, checked the timing and points gap, cleaned the carb and fitted a new plug, but no difference. I suspect ignition, maybe condenser? Are you local to Northampton? I'm on 07860 547056
