Hi there. We are a bunch of 6 guys from Australia, New Zealand, Germany and Switzerland going on a Solex tour from Zurich to Paris starting this Saturday. We hope we will arrive in Paris in 10 days without any glitches. It would make us happy if you accompanied us on our adventure on our blog.

Greetings from the Motor City. Can't wait to share what I know and learn something new. Long time admirer of the Solex. Have wanted one since I first was issued a moped license at 15 and saw a pair that a local elderly couple brought to a local festival. Spent more than half my life trying to track down an example that spoke to me in the same ways the pristine mid 70s pair did at that that show. One failed attempt with a Hungary bike that ended up being parted out brought me some knowledge. Now I have a mostly restored 1966 that I'm getting ready for the same yearly show this weekend where I first saw a Velosolex. Quite a few NOS parts going into the finishing this week. Will take a pic once I get the bags on her and check over all the bolts.

Looking forward to seeing some photos of your Solex! You can post them in the Photo Gallery. Please note that the 14-3-1966 date that is cast into the crankcase is the date of approval of the Cyclomoteur 3800 engine,a nd not the date of manufacture. I can determine the year of manufcature for you if you provide the seven-digit engine serial number that is stamped into the top rear of the cranckase.

About 35 years ago my son recieved a "toy" model Velosolex. We still have it but it is missing the "engine" and other important bits. we have a 7 year-old granddaughter, is it worth getting it "restored" so the she can learn to ride. We live in Ottawa.

Sounds like a Solex  F4. You might have a very hard time finding the "engine".
