It looks like the U.K. Government have decided to bring the M.O.T. roadworthiness testing exemption in line with the 40-year rolling date for Vehicle Excise Duty (road tax). As we all know, vehicles manufactured before 1st January 1960 are currently M.O.T. exempt. But now it would appear this could well apply to any vehicle over 40 years old and it would be a rolling date. If it happens, (see page 11 of the top consultation paper) the likely introduction date could be 20th May, 2018.

Website tutorials – how to upload and insert images.
Some people love computers, others hate ‘em. Some people find computers easy to use, others have great difficulty. Yes, we are all different.
One of the things some members seem to have difficulty with is understanding how to insert an image into a Forum post. It is not like an e-mail where you can simply ‘drag and drop’ an image from the library in the...Read Full Post »

This new event has recently been announced in the June 2017 edition of ‘The M A C,’ the newsletter of the E.A.C.C. (East Anglian Cyclmotor Club).
To quote from parts of the article:

Following a discussions, it has been decided that the EACC will hold a Cyclemotor only ride out in 2018. Whilst I know this is a long time in the future, it certainly gives you all advanced w...Read Full Post »

After the success of the 'Donate' button on the home page, (recently introduced but then quickly removed as soon as the website and domain name renewal targets were met by the most generous donations from our members! Thank you to all concerned.) I can now confirm I have renewed our domain name for five years and the website for another two years. This means Velosolexclubuk.com will definitely 'open for business' until 2019 - and beyond.
Older members will be aware we hav...Read Full Post »

From May 1968 till 1986, the S 3800 and all subsequent Solex models used a twist grip throttle, replacing the previous brake lever or thumb lever and rod operated types of throttle control. To some new Solex owners, it is mystery as to how it works or how it is supposed to work!
This informative and detailed article has been written and photographically illustrated by our resident Solex sage, BrianSolex. It describes clearly all the components involved, how they work together and some ...Read Full Post »

Yes, after putting together the original portrait format Velosolex Club U.K. owner’s handbook in 2013, it has been given a makeover for 2017. Following on from the introduction of the full range of owner’s handbooks into the Solex Reference Section, the old 2013 handbook looked a little out of place in portrait format. There were a couple of minor updates that needed to be introduced, so the opportunity was also used to reformat it into landscape.

Yes, after much converting of French PDF’s, running them through an O.C.R. (optical character recognition) programme, converting them into a ‘Word’ document and then through ‘Google translate,’ we now have a full set of owner’s handbooks in English!
Fortunately, as we found with the previous 1700, S 2200, S 3300 and S 3800 owner’s handbooks, much of the information (about 90%) carries over from one model to the next with only minor l...Read Full Post »
