I went to the 20th anniversary celebrations in 2014 and can thoroughly recommend the event. It was very enjoyable and extremely well organised. Plus, it’s just over the other side of the channel so getting there is easy!

One of our regular contributors to the Forum, Solexrunner (Uwe), has organised an event in Holland next year and invites members of Velosolex Club U.K. to join him with other Solex and moped riders for a long weekend of rides.
You can see all the information, camping details, hotel accommodation and ride details in the calendar here: https://www.velosolexclubuk.com/apps/calendar/showEvent?calID=6855383&eventID=276424839&next=%2fshowAgenda%3fcalID%3d6855383%26pageNum%3d1

The V55/5 form has recently been updated with a few more questions being added. Fortunately, none of these extra questions has any relevance to getting a Solex registered. Also, the form can now be downloaded instead of having to apply for it online.
The ‘Getting a Solex registered’ information at the top of the page in the blue header bar has been updated to reflect this new information and the ‘Filling in the V55/5 form’ in the Forum area under ‘HELPFUL INFORMATION for getting a Solex U.K. REGISTERED’ now shows the new form correctly filled in with a link to the GOV.UK website to download the form.

The Essex on my Velosolex website: www.essexonmyvelosolex.co.uk has had a makeover and been updated.
Go and have a look at the rides to be planned for the rest of 2018, the gallery of previous rides, reviews, news, videos - and there is now merchandise available!
If you would like to ride your Solex in the company of other Solexists, this has to be the site for you.
Here is a message to all riders on the website:
This is not a club - nor are these organised events. If you're reading this and own a roadworthy Solex and also would like to join us for a ramble in the Essex countryside, then you do so at your own risk and by joining in you acknowledge and understand this.
If what you see here appeals, why not join in? You are very welcome to come along - just turn up at the 'grand depart' (start point) and away we go - riding in a Solex peleton!

The following information has been issued by H.M. Government this morning with regard to ‘Vehicles of Historic Interest’ and their exemption from requiring an M.O.T. after 20th May 2018 (providing it has not been substantially changed in the last 30 years.)
It appears, (after 20th May 2018) when applying for a new road tax the vehicle keeper can declare their vehicle (a Solex in our case) is exempt from an M.O.T. if it was constructed more than 40 years ago. The above document explains what will need to be done but otherwise it looks to be a fairly simple and straightforward process.

The following information is provisional and was first published on the E.A.C.C. Forum 16/10/17. Further updates will be added as soon as they become available.
Hi fellow E.A.C.C. members.
We are going to run an E.A.C.C. event the first w/end in June 2018. Camping will be available for those travelling long distances. There will be rides out over the w/end [and a recovery vehicle]. I have also posted this event on one of our sister forums, the Mobylette/Raleigh forum, where some interest has already been shown.
The event will be open to all autocycle / moped / solex riders. All our rides will be under the guidence of E.A.C.C. ROAD MARSHALS. One lead bike and one sweep bike at the rear, [breakdowns]. This should be a good w/end, but if some members want to camp the whole w/end that's fine or just come as a day rider. The provisional ride set off times will be approx 10-30 a.m. like last year. We are also the northern section of the E.A.C.C., so hope it generates good comradeship between fellow riders and a good time is had by all. We may also have some Velosolex riders in attendance, but as we do ride at a sedate pace there will be no need to wait for anyone as we will ride as a club group.
This is one of the main points of doing events like this, so velo/moby/puch/raleigh/nsu etc,all riders will be made very welcome. People may also like to bring a friend or two. I know its a fair way off at the moment, but time soon goes by. So, just after Xmas I will be getting things in motion.
Anyone wanting to contact me please dont hesitate, [john] MOBYMAGIC@GMAIL.COM
Watch this post for developments.
Another date for the diary. If organisers are finally realising the Solex is not a speed machine and are prepared to cater for our slower riding pace, the least we can do is to support their event and make their efforts worthwhile.
Put it in the diary and let's make it a good event.
UPDATE: 26th November 2017
John from the E.A.C.C. Rotherham Roamers has supplied the following information:
I have had a site meeting today with Charlie, the site owner and he is more than happy to accommodate us at this venue. There are toilets and shower on site.

The following information has been posted in the guest book:
From Frank Brzeski.
An Invite to your members to a run in the northwest for machines with engines and pedals
The Inaugural Derek Ashworth Celebration Run
With unavoidably short notice, this will set out from the Farmers' Arms, Chorley Road, Bispham Green, Parbold L40 3SL on Sunday 1 October 2017. Meet at 10am, which is when the pub will open for breakfast, coffee, butties etc., etc., and aim to ride out before 11am.
This is a non-denominational event - it is not affiliated to any Club or Group, but is open to and welcomes any friend of Derek. Since Derek's enthusiasm was mainly directed at Autocycles, we want as many of these as you can bring! If you've got one, - bring it. Ride it if you can. Just let it see the light of day!
The ride will be about 35 miles in total, heading for Frederick's Ice Cream Parlour on Bolton Road, Chorley PR7 4AL where we shall stop for a Raspberry Ripple/Rum and Raisin combo since that was Derek's favourite.
Suitable refreshed we will ride to Rivington Top Barn BL6 7SP to amaze and parade in front of the throngs of bikers who congregate there every Sunday. Further food and drink will be available at Rivington. But more importantly, there are prizes!
Derek's Daughters are offering a trophy for the Best Autocycle, in Derek's memory, a A Shield for the best Machine with Engine and Pedals is also to be presented, again in Derek's memory since he was always keen on the traditional definition of Moped. These will be voted for by riders, and spectators at Rivington, and will be presented at the end of the Run.
Which will be back at the Farmers' Arms after an easy downhill ride in bright sunshine and with a following wind. We're aiming to get there in time for a late lunch, if anyone wants one, and if things go smoothly! See https://farmersarmsparbold.co.uk for the lunch menu. Sunday Roast is also available.
Whilst Autocycles will be the theme, it's more important that you just turn up, ride, and enjoy the company - so don't miss it!
